The Playtime Family. A product of being completely snowed in all weekend and spending a lot of time playing blocks and legos with the kid. Even when I'm not fontstructing I'm still playing with bricks.

Edited 'm' and 'w'.

wow!

also terrific. Funny how the centre squares look brighter in the sample.

My favorite of the Playtime set. I like way it seems to have a crosshair targeting the center of each glyph.

The 'x' and 'v' solutions are brilliant. I think that the 'w' and 'm' should just go ahead and take twice the width of the grid.

Blocky playful squared letters: an oxymoron as a font... Wonderful!

Thanks all for the feedback. @geneus1: Funny that. When it came down to naming the font, it was between crosshair and playtime. In the end I felt crosshair was to literal and didn't fit the mood I was in at the time of 'structin. @intaglio: it's killing me that I can't immediately place your avatar image. Who?

@Stewf: Thanks for lending your third eye. To be clear, you're proposing the following, correct?
Comment by afrojet 23rd december 2008
That works. Though I was thinking using the existing side as the middle leg and then just mirroring the body again.

*swoon* I'm in love.

@afrojet: Think Picasso of the piano. I'm a tease, aren't I.

@Intaglio: Billy Joel? ;-)
The boy and I were at the grocery store last night and we went to check out this massive snow plow that was parked in the lot. It was filled with a million little gadgets and knobs. But there on the drivers seat was a Thelonious Monk CD case. I felt better knowing that the streets were being availed of their burden by a man quietly listening to 'Straight No Chaser' as he pushed his machine down the road.

Cigar.

I think "Evidence" is the single greatest jazz riff of all time. Not that I'm obsessed about Monk or anything.
Comment by intaglio 24th december 2008
Wonderful. I wish I had those letters in extruded plastic to play with them myself.

This font doesnt work in Photoshop CS2! :(

All I get is "??????" when I type.
Comment by zenonithus 6th march 2009
...either that or it doesnt work on Windoes Vista
Comment by zenonithus 6th march 2009
@zenonithus: playtime doesn't have any uppercase letters and will display the Fontstruct logo glyph when typed. But I'm not sure why you would be getting question marks (?). Anyone else have this problem or know what might be giving zenonithus this result? It works for me in CS3.
Comment by afrojet 6th march 2009
ahh, actually it does work, I just had capslock on....DOH! :)
Comment by zenonithus 6th march 2009
Excellent. Glad you have it sorted out. I opened CS and found that a missing glyph renders nothing. I don't have CS2, but I presume that a missing glyph delivers a question mark instead of the Fontstruct symbol (as is the case in CS3). This is all coming from a Mac perspective. I don't know if it's different on Windows.
