This is a wonderfully balanced monotype with an exceptional quiet gray value. Great work.

Wise words. I'm with Beate.

@beate: Thank you for your comment and generous rating. I don't really know what grey value is. Could you explain it, please. It took me a lot of tinkering until I got the present version.

Gray value:
In typography and graphic design, gray value is understood to be the reflected or absorbed optical color average of a monochrome typeface or a monochrome type set in the sense of light and dark, unprinted and printed, or blank and written.

From an aesthetic point of view, the gray value represents a subjective, i.e. non-objective, relation of space, area and color; it is the sum of different macro- and micro-typographic considerations and regularities. Basically, a distinction is made between the gray value of a typeface and the gray value of a typeset or facsimile.

If you close your eyes to the point where you can only see the lines of a text, you can easily see whether the dicts is even, i.e. which glyphs are too strong or too light compared to each other. Often Kk, Mm, Ww... appear too strong, especially in monotypes…

Yes, I'm sure you do. It takes a lot of skill and the right proportions to achieve this result.

@beate: Thank you for your elaborate explanation. I didn't know that squinting was so useful. I just did instinctively.

@elmoyenique: Thank you.
