The Pet Shop Boys had a competition to design the poster for their North American tour to support the Yes album.This was one of the submitted entry, designed by CrowdSpring user k_anderson [not me]. This font is an expansion of his/her idea.

@cayo: :) The sample explains it all.
@SPeg: All patches are one step down from previous, except for the lightest, which is two step down. 3rd and 4th were rendering at the same shade of gray.
@G1: Real argyle is still in the planning stage. Lets see if that can be extracted without obvious pixelization.
