After spending ages trying to ensure that all the RM Playtime family were exactly the same (they are all clones) I am somewhat at a loss to understand why they do not download and print to the same size.

The original RM Playtime comes out at twice the size of its siblings; whilst the RM Playtime solid, bold and medium are all very slightly different from one another - see sample above (bold over solid).

I am using Paint Shop Pro for my samples ... is there any chance that one of you proper designer types could download these and see whether the same happens on a more professional graphics package.

I don't know the answer to your problem. I just wanted to tell you, that the RM Playtime family looks great. I think to create such rounded letterforms with FS is a bold move. Some of them may need a bit of polish here and there, but the whole set is clear and bright. (See my other comment on RM Playtime.) 10/10

I think print size depends on the Top Height and baseline. What ever is the highest and lowest block is the marker for the sizer. If you ensure that you have a consistent top and bottom line across all fonts this may help. You may also have a tray block somewhere which could effect everything. The ones which are the same are good. Leave them alone. Work on the one that's a different scale. You'll no doubt find a little tweaking is needed.

I prefer your lower case, except the X's both need improving. Maybe make them like the u & n on top of each other. An arched top and bottom.

Thanks for the comments guys.

The strange thing about the differnce in size is that they are all cloned from the original RM Playtime ... yet that is the one that is so much larger when dowloaded. All have identical height and baseline.

The differences in medium/bold/solid are very slight but seem to affect the width ... as you can see from the lack of register in the y of the sample.

Time for hubris ... mea culpa etc.

When I updated RM Playtime I thought I would check the other variations as well. Whoops! I discovered that the fault behind the lack of registration lay firmly with me. Several glyphs had slight imperfections (mainly in the 45 degree angles).

At the moment I have checked (and amended) all the U/C of the four members of the family. The rest will follow before too long.

I should have realised that, with something as great as FS, the weakest link was always going to be me :)
