Another fat-heavy-black-squarish font, but with little slab serifs thanks to FontStruct 2.0 features.

A nice slant of the Ultra Black Block style fonts. The little serifs really make a difference, in its legibility. Top job.
Nice sample as well, what software did you use to produce it?

Very nice work. One small critique if I may: I'm not sure about the 'I' and '1'. They look too wide. Of course, you have to apply longer serifs, or reconsider the non-monospace route. 10/10

I agree with Frodo. I had the same problem when designing my NCD Black Square family of fonts, I think the I, should be the same width as the T.

i'd say u didn't reinvent the wheels. but this is very close :)
Comment by kix 20th june 2010
@Djnippa: thanks. The sample was made with... paper and cutter!

@Frodo7&Djnippa: you are right, I realized of the I and 1 width problem, but I wanted the font to be monospaced. Anyway Djnippa's suggestion to make the I as wide as the T was smart: I made the change he suggested and now those gliphs are a little narrower, while the set is still monospaced! Thanks!

@Kix: while I was sharing this I thought of other fontstructors thinking "not another black square monospace font!", but I wanted to add my two cents to the category anyway :). Thanks!

@P2pnut&Upixel: I'm glad you like this font. It is always a bit of a surprise for me when a simple fontstruction like this gets appreciated. :)

Like djnippa, I was wondering what software you used, but paper and cutter was the last answer I would have come up with. I thought the sample looked retro-futuristic, but when you said how it was made, that solidified it even further. This and your Kiri version are great creative extensions in the 3rd dimension.
