Nice work!! How did you do that? must be a really hard work!!
Comment by deshzx 13th june 2008
allways a pleasure to see how you break the rules of the module system. this is so far my favourite. i give you a perfect 10.0.
Comment by Ixel 13th june 2008
Wow! That is a labor of love, if ever there was one. Excellent! :)
Comment by thalamic 14th june 2008
Incredible. First Ironmanic, then HulkSmash.. it's going to be a busy summer for you: you've still got Batman and Hellboy on the way!
Comment by theterrible 14th june 2008
great work! i've totally been working on something similar, but i think i'll throw that away now...:D i'd never in my life have come to a detail level like this!
it actually really takes some time to recognize the block elements and structure in this font, i guess that defines real mastery of fontstructing... chapeau!:)
Comment by Tobias Sommer (shasta) 14th june 2008
Thanks everyone! I appreciate your appreciation!

deshzx: Its all smoke and mirrors. At this point, its not really hard work more than it is time consuming- a commodity which seems to be running thin as of late.

Ixel: I think I was absent when they taught about playing by the "rules," thats why I just play.

Thalamic: "I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” -Mother Teresa. I don't think there's any labor either, but this applies more to Father's Day tomorrow than FontStructing. Happy Father's Day everybody!

theterrible: Hellboy > July 11, Dark Knight > July 18th. Thanks for the reminder. That's gonna be hard. And I just missed Sex And The City. Ooh, I feel sooooo bad. ;-)

shasta: Its not my intention to make people throw away their designs. I hope they would inspire others to discover the process without me giving away "secrets." For this design, the detail that is created can only be achieved by doubling the width and height of the bricks which thereby exponentially increases your design decisions. And I wouldn't consider it mastery, but thanks again.

soo... you hacked fontstruct to make this font ??
nice! xD
but how did you do it ? cause if you can make AWESOME fonts like you ,, I wanna do that also!! =D
Comment by I_AM_YAZE 15th june 2008
It looks great as a pixel font, too! Great work; congratulations!
Comment by SquarePeg 15th june 2008
Congratulations for this new movie-related-gem! (BTW, I would have really liked a Sex & the City font from you :)

What I like most is that you were able to achieve such a complex design while using a relatively small grid.
Comment by Em42 17th june 2008
I_AM_YAZE: Going into the Advanced Menu in Fontstruct and changing the Width and Height from 1 to 2 isn't really hacking. Anyone can do it. Give it a try...

SquarePeg: Thanks. I'm surprised too.

Em42: Thanks. That font would probably be censored. ;-) But if I had known Kung Fu Panda was going to be that good, I would have made a font honoring Dim Mak Kung Fu.
The grid space on HulkSmash is fairly large, but the brick overlays add to the illusion of a smaller grid size.
Comment by geneus1 18th june 2008
When I download this font (as truetype) there is a ton of blank space at the top of each glyph, and I have to make it like 120 points to be able to read it at all. What's up with that?
Comment by rpresser 19th june 2008
@rpresser
There’s a new FAQ answer on this. Individual FontStructors have very little control over the technical properties of their fonts. If you find a problem that isn’t mentioned in the FAQ, the best thing to do is to contact the FontStruct team.
Comment by Rob Meek (meek) 21st june 2008
I have only made one fontstruct so far and you are really good at it. It seems so hard to make these

Thanks for all the votes and comments.

I forgot to thank Rob Meek here for the improvements to the Font Generator because it has made such a difference especially on this font. Now you can download and the sizing is perfect. Thanks Rob!

Kewl! Thanks, Stewf. It's nice to know that at least my font was able to go to TypeCon. Hopefully it will bring me along next year.

nice job~
Comment by errorpark 6th january 2009
Thank you errorpark. And thank you bane, but it does feel rather unworthy to receive your generous 'godlike' comment.

@CHAMILO & TheInfluence: I think I'll pass on the challenge. I don't think I could manage the curves. But if you look at Tangience Solid, it kinda looks like Nerds Rope. I loves me some Nerds Rope. :-)

Comment by geneus1 7th january 2009
Thanks for this one.
The capital "C" always cracks me up ...

Hoisted on my own petard. I was going to download hulksmash because I've got a perfect use for it but the words I want to set (44 tonne) have numerals that I was hoping would be smashed too.

Kharma to me for all the downloads of my fonts people have made, only to discover I've not done enough of the set....

Comment by laurenmarie 5th december 2012
@laurenmarie:

To use a font on your PC:

1) Download it
2) Open the zipped folder
3) Copy the .ttf file to your Desktop
4) Click on 'Start'
5) Open 'Control Panel'
6) Open 'Fonts'
7) Copy the .ttf file into 'Fonts'

Once this is done, the downloaded font can be used on your PC.
Comment by p2pnut 5th december 2012
@laurenmarie: Or, you can follow this step
1. Download it
2. Find the zip file, then open.
3. In the zip file, there is a .ttf file.
4.Open it, and then on top of that there is written, "Install". Click it.
5.Open Microsoft Word, and you're ready to write!
Comment by Adila Rahma (Ddila) 5th december 2012
P2pnut, there is a quicker way to do that:

1. Download the font.
2. Open the zip file.
3. Open "Fonts" somewhere in the menu
4. Drag-and-drop the .ttf file in the Fonts folder.
5. Use it!
Comment by minidonut 5th december 2012
Cheers :) ... I wrote it that way so that it would apply to various versions of Windows (some people are still using Win XP for example)

Hello, I  am seeking a Commercial License/Permission To Use for your Hulk Smash Font and would like to design T-shirts that would be sold on my new apparel website. What steps do I need to take to get this accomplished? -
