A strong and rounded fixed-width font, aimed at single-font apps such as consoles and text editors. Good for programming and text interface design. Has more glyphs and complete Unicode subsets than most default monospaced fonts.

NOTE: If you want to use this font in Windows console apps, please do NOT download it from this website because unfortunately it is unable to mark TTF font files as Monospaced in the way that Windows requires. Instead, read the comments below that are dated May 2019.

Source code sample.

I noticed the corner and inverted corner blocks are the wrong size, they should generally be the same size as the other block elements...

Also, Can you also add the rest of the greek?

Comment by anonymous-1520403 17th December 2018

Which OS & software are you using to view it, so I can reproduce the issue? Do you mean vertically? If I make the blocks smaller they do not seamlessly connect in Windows Notepad (see attached).

And I have added the missing 24 Greek capitals + some others. Or do you need the entire subset 0370-03FF?

Comment by mez101010 18th December 2018

@mez at least that it contains all the letters nedded to write greek...

What I mean is that the quadrant blocks should be scaled vertically until it matches the height of the full block (█)...

Also, the 5/8 right block should be moved a bit to the left until it touches the left guide...

5/8 left block*

For what it's worth, the Q and the slash O's seem out of place with the rest of the font.

@Se7enty-Se7en

I think the blocks are correct now, so thanks for that. I've also added the missing Greek capitals, but I'm not familiar with the Greek alphabet so let me know if there are any more that should be defined.

@jonrgrover

I know what you mean, but the style simply matches the original inspiration for the font, which is a blocky bitmap font with a very low resolution (8x8 pixels). Plus, if the zero didn't have a slash it would be exactly the same as the capital letter 'O' which would be ambiguous for programmers.

If you are thinking of the Teletext font on those 1980s machines (MODE 7) you should try searching for the quality "Bedstead" font online, or the "Mallard" font on this site.

@mez There are the capital greek vowels with tonos, the lowercase iota with tonos and umlat that need to be added as well... As well as the greek question mark just in case... And you can add the accented greek letters in the Greek Extended block if needed...

I spotted a missing brick on the superscript 3 (highlighted in red/orange)

Comment by anonymous-1520403 18th December 2018

OK, thanks, I've fixed that and added the whole 'Greek/Coptic' subset for 0370-03FF.

To use this TrueType font in Windows console apps, go to this popular Acorn forum to download my amended .ZIP version of it: Stardot Forums

1) Extract the amended .TTF font file from inside the downloaded .ZIP file.
2) Install the .TTF font by right-clicking on it and doing "Install for All Users".
3) Run 'regedit' as an Administrator and go to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Console\TrueTypeFont" section.
4) Add a new string value for "000=Acorn Full Nostalgia".
5) Sign out of Windows and sign back in again.

You should now be able to select this font in these Windows console apps:
· Command Prompt
· PowerShell
· Terminal
