Yeah! This is cool.
You're great at playful type :)

Beautiful. You get an incredible sense of mixing unique, special feeling with simple, direct impact which i'm unable of and always makes my work for only a very few potential fellows to grasp and receive, if any.

Awesome!

Thanks, everybody, and especially AFT, I wish I could express my thoughts and feelings like you do. And don't worry, there will always be lovers and haters, but you can always ignore the latter category :)

Wow, very nice! I once attempted something like this, but it miserably failed. Like AFT, you are better at using FS than me :)

@winty5: Thanks. But you shouldn't forget that fontstructor is a software, and like wih any software, the more you play with it, the better you get, so, keep exploring! You're very young and have a whole life of opportunities ahead of you, so you can even consider a typographer's career ;)

All the makings of a future classic. 10/10

@architaraz: Yup, I've been "exploring" for pretty long now :) I have considered a typographer's career too.

Simply (literally!) wonderful, a lot of the characters are completely ingenious. 10/10

Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “Katamaran” is now a Top Pick.

Thanks everybody for the comments and TP! The intention was to create smth simple, and it's not the first time I've been accidentally creating these shapes, just had to figure out how to combine & turn them into a typeface.

Hi, everybody! I here have a question about obliques/italics. Let's say I want to create an oblique variant of "1" (see image below.) I apply "oblique" or "italic" effect through font editing software, and the result I get is just a slanted glyph ("2" in the image.). So I notice that the top-right of 2 is a bit thick, and the bottom-right is a bit thin.

So, after editing, I get a "3" with the same stroke weight on both mentioned earlier positions.

My question is: Can "3" be considered as a true oblique variant of "1"? And by oblique I don't mean italic.

Thanks for reading. Happy fontstructing, everybody!

As far as I know, an oblique variant is characterized by the fact that glyphs are simply slanted to one side. Italics, however, are a variant of the typeface in which every glyph is created in such a manner that it fits to the regular variant. So, yes, in your case this is an oblique variant, because you only made minor adjustments to the stroke thickness.

Many thanks, Laynecom! I've actually changed my last version, and you can preview the whole family on HelloFont now. Hopefully, it'll be available on MyFonts this week too. Here's the new oblique D:

Please check out Behance & MyFonts. AFT, thanks for your comment once again, I used it in the description.

You're welcome. But when i was at Myfont, 2 years ago, they said their contract was exclusive, and you couldn't sell or give your fonts anywhere else. I'm surprised you can be on both Hellofont and Myfont platforms. Thanks for letting me know Hellofont, Myfont was a really annoying difficult way to publish, i had to wait weeks for an approval or to add an update and send tons of emails for a simple request. And seeing now their site, it seems that they became so selective in the sense that really different, out of norm approaches have completeley disappeared, and that my work would not have a single chance now because it has become much standardized. I saw on the contrary many beautiful and refreshing approaches at Hellofont, some working like me on the frontier of Art and Typography. And the fact that you control all your factors and updates "LIVE" like in Fontstruct is ideal for me. Surely there is much more visibility on myfonts but during the 6 months i was in i could figure out that my fonts were a bit "too much" for the non artistic, exclusively type design public of myfonts... Your work is surely more more suited to it, because despite its personality, it stays true to type design fondamentals, what is not exactly the case in my out of norm approach...

Thanks AFT. I was introduced to Hellofont when publishing first samples to Behance, they seem to contact everybody who's involved in typography in any way :) I would've ignored it if it wasn't for those stunning HANDMADE and VECTOR fonts they have there. Now, that's smth different and may become very popular in coming years.

Selling through MyFonts isn't exclusive, at least not anymore, you're allowed to sell through other retailers with a condition of the same price tag.

Thalamic's comment on "Jalgas font" made me think about contacting FontShop, which I did a few days ago, and they'll get back to me in 2-3 weeks due to holidays. I'll let you Fontstructers know if they accept or reject me.
