A font made so that both rows and columns of letters can run into each other and form a continuous chain.
I designed this 16x16 pixel font to facilitate texturing and dithering for pixel artists. Not every piece of art software has tools designed for texturing/dithering, and loading lots of custom brushes for the purpose can slow one's software way down as well. This font was made to attempt to solve these problems. Now you can dither, shade, and texture by typing! Every glyph repeats as a seamless texture both horizontally and vertically.
The name comes from my emulator/game, "Virtua Gremlin". Although these patterns weren't in the game (it used 9x9 tiles, not 16x16), many of the patterns here are based on that earlier work. "Skins" is a reference to graphical skins, of course. :D
A-Z = textures
a-z = dithering/shading patterns
0-9 = scanlines
The rest is sort of a mishmash... I'll organize it better once I have enough glyphs to warrant a good classification system...

Mechanical Horse resembles the engravings which might be found on a mechanical horse such as the one from Vampire Hunter D. What qualifies me to say this? Well, I watched Vampire Hunter D a couple of times and have been speculating wildly for decades, which is more than enough time to get good at it.
Please exercise caution when handling Mechanical Horse. Its edges can be pointy.

When I was in school, there were two things everyone was drawing: the "Cool S" and the 3D Cube.
Runic alphabet of the Ormumi, a race of orange-skinned cyclopean humanoids in the games ESOS, Seven Candles and Trap Farmer Brer Brah among others.
Version 1.5: All permutations of E and F were refined and improved.
A modernized, rounded, and truncated version of Marengi. This is made to be a good text editor/chat font. It has very few kerning pairs, so it should render fine in any software.
Ascenders are only allowed to be as tall as the uppercase/numerals, while descenders are allowed to go 2px below the line. This creates a natural line spacing that is readable and not too dense. (Diacritics break this rule, of course... darn them...)
Gone are the curved descenders/termini on letters like gjty. The simpler geometry makes this design more suited to speedreading than its predecessor. In fact, altering those four letters alone improves speedreading on this font by up to 14%!

Linestrider's two-lined little brother.
Probably won't update this one again, because it uses a lot of brickswapping and so it is likely to get corrupted by additional editing/saving.This is a clone of Linestrider
A 5x5 font which has vertical bilateral symmetry, as if a mirror were covering half of it. Surprisingly readable!
Going for an industrial sci-fi look. The hard angles give these letters the appearance of being made by some kind of tape or roller.
This font was originally designed to be uppercase only. So, the lowercase might be considered as an alternate set.
Original size: 24pt (24pt, 48pt, etc. look most crisp when not using antialiasing)
Some kind of great big ol' chain.
In retrospect, I think it looks like a jewelry chain from a dwarven civilization. Perhaps the hypothetical jeweler cut and ground the stones in an imitation of some dwarven font!
When glyphs are used in isolation, they somewhat resemble carved signets or seals. Increasing the letter spacing allows you to create a variation of the design. (This is something that must be done in-software since the font will render as monospaced by default.)
12SEP2018: Added lowercase... the low resolution combined with the design method make it very difficult to render distinctive lowercase versions of every letter, but I'll keep working on it. There's a lot of similarity between pairs like S/5, Z/2, etc., so this font is most effectively used in forms of writing wherein context suffices to inform the reader as to the identity of each glyph (lists, prose, and technical writings). If you want to use this in a password system or something, I recommend using one case's glyphs only.
1. Negative spaces will be areas of 0.5 bricks' effective length or width.
2. Negative spaces may exceed the 0.5 measurement only by increments of 0.5 and in only one dimension at a time.
3. Glyphs will fill their framed canvasses to the greatest extent possible while adhering to the other rules.
I started doodling and ended up with this - a semimodular design that looks like a fusion of Coptic, Elder Futhark, Hebrew, and Latin. Arabic numerals included, of course!
By request, a polygonal font with a slightly militaristic feeling.
The truncated polygonal perimeter of most glyphs is somewhat inspired by the lettering on World War I planes, tanks, and ships. These forms of lettering tended to have more square aspect ratios. I changed that to give this font more personality and to condense it so more text could fit on a line.
In terms of what modern military setting this might fit into, it looks very Air Force- or Navy-esque to my eye. Check out the video games and recruitment materials relating to those two branches and you'll see what I mean.

Just doodling with the Connect bricks!
Sometimes the stray particles connect to form new shapes, and sometimes they don't. I rather like the seeming randomness of this property, so maybe I won't standardize it after all.
A font which uses some custom macaroni bricks. This one has the same kind of structural asymmetry as Phenomenologist. Angles and corners on the left are almost always sharper than those on the right, which gives glyphs a structural asymmetry as well as a sense of rightward momentum. This technique also imparts variation to some otherwise very similar letterforms (bdpq, mw, sz).
This is named for a species of android from Doctor Who.
Other design decisions:
- Make the ascender height shorter than the uppercase
- Use squares for dots/diaresis and circles for punctuation, so that they are more quickly distinguished
- Allow the sharp curve and gentle curve to swap positions when it's beneficial to the glyph (BX8&)
- Incorporate angled lines into several glyphs so that none of the glyphs which have them seem out of place (SZsz012569*~$)
- Ignore the other design decisions for glyphs which need a standardized look due to their use in programming and other syntax-based forms of writing (most symbols & punctuation)
