Circus (Decorative font)
This is a clone of Bevan's DecorativeThe theme for this typeface is the word 'Filthy'. The letterform's structures are based on dust and the way it separates when a finger is dragged through it. Dust collects on objects that have been untouched for periods of time, often through neglect. The use of negative space and lack of border draws attention to the dot-work dust that forms around the accents of the letters. As a finger cleans dust, larger piles form where there is a change in direction. This helps identify the individual characters whilst keeping a minimalistic approach. This font can be used for headings and posters, or shop designs and logos. I have always felt this font would go well on a burger shack to help give a rustic or edgy look.
AH Machina is a font I made 'cuz I liked the A, basically. The N is weird, I know, but there's really no way to fix it save making it SUPER long or intersecting the other side (which I don't want to do) or something.
Distressed is an uppercase font focusing on the theme destruction. Within this element I looked more specifically at mental health and how social media has an affect on our mental wellbeing. I created a cracked and distressed effect on each individual letter to visually express the pressure and insecurity we can experience from social media.
BRAIN POWER
This type face was inspired by the word "energetic", the optical illusion theme deceives the eye and appears to be bend and curved in areas. The energy comes from the deception your brain; the longer you stare, the more you see. I studied mazes and other opticall illusions before coming to this outcome, shading was important as it makes the letters more realistic and 3 dimentional.
This is a cloneThis bold, swirling font draws its inspiration from the theme of 'Protect'. Within this theme, I looked into how people use crystals to protect their aura, soul, and mental and physical health. I thought about the contrasts that crystals have - smooth, curved and polished but also jagged and rough. I created pixelated curves using fontruct bricks to emulate this as well as adding the 'shine' that crystals give off.
My font is based on the Ministry of Transportation building in Georgia. The building itself is inspired by Japanese Metabolism architecture. Which is a moventment inspired by growth and adapabilty. I wanted my font to feel as though you could stack and change it just like Metabolism architecture.
'Nailed It' is a unique and exclusive display typeface primarily designed to portray a message of something to be wary of and to represent the dangerous. The font is physically made of various size nails and splints of timber, positioned to replicate an original font based loosley on a brush script typeface in capitals. Uses for the font could range from circus signs to hardware shops (the most common, obviously).
This fontrusction was created for the theme 'community'. Titled, 'Social Bubble' I aimed to represent how Covid-19 has affected our social lives. The reason for the different styles for each letter is to express how everyone's situation is different, however I did keep some consistency for aesthetic purposes. The bitmap style also represents how social interaction has become more digital due to people not being able to see each other face to face.
