Recreation of the pixel font from Copya System/Seibu Kaihatsu's "Raiden Trad" (aka "Raiden Densetsu", 1991) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
For the most part, it is identical to the original arcade version, but with subtle tweaks to the "J", "O", the exclamation mark, and with fewer special characters/punctuation marks.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
This is a clone of RaidenRecreation of the pixel font from Adrenalin Entertainment/Playmates Interactive Entertainment's "Doom Troopers - The Mutant Chronicles" (1995) on the SNES and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the main coloured variant of the small pixel font from Factor 5/Neon Studio's "Mega Turrican" (1993) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
This variant is used for the intro cinematic and end credits. Otherwise, the game uses the classic "Turrican/Turrican II" (1990) font.
This recreation uses the special TTF+SVG format, which currently has limited support. For a monochrome version, see this recreation.
As with the monochrome version, this font has been slightly expanded to include special characters present in "Turrican 3" (1993) on the Commodore Amiga, and to complete the characters with umlauts (in two separate variations). The punctuation characters have been harmonised between the two versions as well.
Beyond that, only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
This is a clone of Turrican 3 (Intro/Highscore Shading) (Colour)Recreation of the pixel font from Bits Studio/Flying Edge's "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" (1991) on the Sega Mega Drive. In game, the font uses a subtle form of antialiasing on the top-left-most pixel, which has been omitted from this recreation. Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the small pixel font from the european/north american release of Climax Entertainment/Sonic! Software Planning's "Shining Force" (1992) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
This font is unusual, as each character not only comprises two tiles (for its height), but also features characters that are wider than the maximum 8px tiles. In the game's tile set, this was achieved by using a custom encoding, where a single tile contains the combined values for two horizontal tiles.
See this short Twitter thread for a little dissection of the tile set.
The width of each character is also variable and encoded in the bottom tile for each character. Unfortunately, I was unable to work out the logic behind the width information bits - so, for characters used in the game, the correct width was matched manually, and for any characters not encountered (yet) in any of the dialog boxes, I took an educated guess...
Due to the complexity of this encoding, I won't tackle the hiragana/katakana large font from the japanese release.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included
Recreation of the pixel font used in Sega's "Wonder Boy" (1987) on the Master System. Slightly expanded, but for the most part only the characters present in the game ROM have been included.
Updated 2 December 2018: referring back to the game ROM, corrected the "Q", "K", "J", "X", "/", comma, heart, "7" (swapping it for the one used in game, rather than on the title screen), and added the missing "!" and dash/minus. Also included the two lowercase "a" and "e" characters used for "escape" on the title screen.
Seen On Sega Genesis 32X.
This is a clone of Knuckles Chaotix NovaI had a sheet of Shinobi's font, nobody had done it yet, now it's here! All characters are what appeared on the sheet - no custom glyphs (yet). I may get around to adding a question mark. Get your black ninja gear on and download now.
Recreation of the pixel font from Technōs/Software Creations/Flying Edge's "Double Dragon 3: The Arcade Game" (aka "Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone", 1993) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the pixel font from Megasoft/Sega's "Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master" (aka "The Super Shinobi II", 1993) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Note that, for visual consistency, the ";" character has been shifted one pixel lower. The game uses two different single quote characters, but only the most distinctive has been used.
For completeness, a custom ">" character has been added. Otherwise, only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the colour pixel font from The Bitmap Brother's "Gods" (1991) port on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Note that in the game, there is also a separate set of 0-9 numbers used for the score counter. This recreation only includes the slightly "cut off" letters and numbers used on the title screen, status messages, and high-score screen.
This recreation uses the special TTF+SVG format, which currently has limited support.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
