A font made for a music company's logo. They rejected my concept so I thought I'd make this available for everyone else to use.

A combination of blackletter and building blocks. Inspired by little kid's blocks. Descenders on A,H,K,N,R are meant to be there, I felt like adding them. :) This is also my first attempt at blackletter.

Sasando Rote typeface is adapted from Traditional Musical Instrument from Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia "Sasando". The sasando instrument from East Nusa Tenggara’s Rote Island has long been hidden and only visible in books, but the persistence of musicians from the instrument’s homeland is slowly bringing it to the fore. This typeface was made as tribute for indigenous art of music from East Nusa Tenggara.

A punk in a suit: the initial inspiration for this font came from the theme 'loud'. My thought process was that actions speak louder than words, and the Punk movement in the ‘70s helped people through a lot of social and economic unrest; punk communicates effectively. Consequently, I approached creating a typeface with the DIY mentality of punk. I observed the approach of Jamie Reid, the zine culture and various band posters to identify with the distinctive cut and paste style. I then considered how this could be used to communicate with more than one audience at once while retaining the punk aesthetic. This led me to create a typeface which is conflicted between serif and sans-serif; it features jerky counters contrasting with chipped bowls; it’s a font designed to appear cut up and pasted back together in line with the traditional ethics of DIY punk. A wide bodied typeface for bit mapped urban culture. DAQ or data acquisition is the sampling of signals that measure physical conditions and the conversion of these signals into digital values to be manipulated by a computer DAQ type is a new-bit mapped for both print and web which brings back the glory days of 8 bit backing tracks and penny sized pixels.

This is not your normal "ABC" font, because you can find a billion of those and I found it exhaustive to explore. This typeface uses musical symbols and calligraphy to represent our commonly used letters, numbers, and punctuation. I am a graduate student in music, and I used several fine scores as inspiration. There are many rules that I was following, which would be redundantly stated here, so I will only surmise that tender care to the pixel was taken on as many occasions as I could to replicate with precision the various glyphs found here. Some words about the download:
When downloaded, the font works best at 38 point. Also, due to my assigning a glyph to the spacebar, there is a vertical line that always follows the cursor (the measure line). At this time I have not tested as to whether this anomoly prints or not. Finally, there were some unicode mistakes that required me to repeat the ", and there is one glyph that may not register on some computers. Otherwise: Enjoy using a more unusual - musical - typface.
P.S. If you do have questions, I will answer them all. I used strict rules for construction, so I can submit information beyond the precision you would possibly require.
Thanks!
AAF

If you type with CAPS LOCK the letters will be quarter notes. If you type without caps lock the letters will be half notes (at the end of a sentence they will be either dotted half or dotted quarter.) Numbers are whole notes.
Don't hit space at the beginning of a sentence because space makes notes eighth notes. Just play around with the font and you will see what I mean

I loved Yautja's music (can't remember where I found it).
It inspired this font.
...*...*...*...*...*...*...*...*...*...
The space is a blank length as usual, the ^ and ` are ovals over the baseline, the _ is a short baseline with a circle, the * a long wavey baseline and the , a short baseline with a straight descender.
You can use a "." at the beginning of a sentence if you want that circle instead of the curve.
I liked using the * in place of the space between words to get a long baseline carrying the "melody" of letters .....
