This my recreation of my own handwriting fontstructed with a vertical line/stripe pattern (I know it's bad calligraphy, but don't tell Claude Dieterich I did it, please).
I used a fountain pen 1.1mm stroke to get my samples written down in order to have a basis.
My UC leans slightly to the left and my lc to the right; must be the graffiti influence from way back in the day. No wonder I only type nowadays...

13.09.09 alternative s added.
located instead of the long s → Unicode:017f (Alt + 0383)

14.09.09 More Latin Diacritics added.

Woah! I wonder why it posted three times? Sorry :{
Comment by jinx 10th september 2009
@cayo:"Señor Bolsón". I like that:))

Meanwhile jinx having some trouble with the system (or is it just a déjà vu?) forgot to cast his/her vote.
Comment by Frodo7 10th september 2009
@jinx thx & no worries, I'll hide them.
déjà vu must be :D

@Frodo7 así lo llaman en la versión castellana.

Thank you guys.
Your comments are much appreciated.
I'm going to add some ligatures for the o, v and t pretty soon, but now my neck hurts & I need some rest.
I'm glad you like it :)
Comment by cayo 10th september 2009
oh, you need some um...rest? oh right :)
Comment by funk_king 10th september 2009
Nice hanwriting - well 'structed :)
Comment by p2pnut 10th september 2009
Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “Scanografia” is now a Top Pick.
Comment by Stephen Coles (Stewf) 10th september 2009
Really Cool!
Comment by jmarquez 10th september 2009
I love it!
Comment by Magic Sam 10th september 2009
Really nice Cayo. I think you chose wisely to use the vertical line treatment instead of bricking the entire glyph. The curves turn out much smoother this way.
Comment by afrojet 10th september 2009
Very nice. I love your A and g.
Comment by aphoria 10th september 2009
:) I'm stoked all this meticulous brick pushing ended up with so many nice comments. Thanks! Totally worth the effort.

@funk_king I was staring too close at my screen for too long, but I'm recovered after sleeping some 12 hours. Now I'm good as new.

@p2pnut This is a very stylized version of my handwriting. It usually ends up looking like backwards arabian script because of my fast (and probably not readable) writing technique.

@Stewf thanks for the pink beauty mark.

@afrojet I used it to gain advantage of round endings to render some "blur" to the curved line: sometimes with half circle bricks, sometimes the half circle/half square one. Curves get smooth, but the diagonals still stagger. I can't always win... sigh!

@aphoria the A was my first UC to be designed and the last to be aproved: I made so many changes to it after developing the rest, but I'm very happy with the end result.
Comment by cayo 10th september 2009
Amazing ! Very graceful and smooth. 10/10.
Comment by igorrossi 11th september 2009
This is really great, cayo. Congratulations!
Comment by SquarePeg 13th september 2009
Thank you both. That's very kind of yourselves.

I added an alternative s instead of the long s
→ Unicode 017f (Alt + 0383)
And I also added more latin diacritics.

I think I might clone this one for ligatures: there's too many of them to make to just use some other empty glyph's position that I rather put them all together in another FS's lc & UC, so they would be easily used.
Comment by cayo 14th september 2009
Yep, that´s a real Top Pick. One of the most soulful Fontstructions ever, I think.
Comment by Magic Sam 14th september 2009
and one of the most sexiest too ;)
Comment by funk_king 14th september 2009
You make it look so effortless. Excellent rendition.
Comment by thalamic 15th september 2009
Thank you very much, guys!
Those are very kind words.

@thalamic it might look effortless, but just by the looks. It was (literally) a pain in the neck to smooth it out selecting the right brick & line length, but totally worth it.
Comment by cayo 15th september 2009
How long did it take you to make this? Wow!
Comment by Mel O'Mann (aaaalllleeeexxxx) 15th september 2009
It took me an afternoon just for the vowels...
Comment by cayo 16th september 2009
nice writing style ! original typos !5/5
Comment by darkseeid 21st september 2009
Have I really not commented on this one yet? Well... I love it! Great way of making a handwritten font look smooth and organic while avoiding fontstructs restrictions in one of the most elegant ways I've seen here so far... Trabajo excelente!
If you allow I'd like to fontstruct my own handwriting based on this concept (giving you the due credits of course). Not that this would come anytime very soon, but I've always wanted to digitalize my own dreadful scrawl and this would definitely be the way I'd like to do it on fontstruct...:)
Comment by Tobias Sommer (shasta) 26th october 2009
Thank you, Darkseeid und Danke Schön, Shasta. Sorry I have not replied earlier but I really want to get at least the two basic latin rows finished on this one. I had seen Thals findings and was stoked to see a lot of FSions going more exposed, but look what Frodo7 found in the net.
They have my font, I have their sampler!
yeah! keep on rocking in the free world!!!

How did you add a handwritten font here?
Comment by Stayros Mpailgkamis (Mapkis) 19th february 2010
LOVE IT . . . . .
Comment by ivan delafe 22nd september 2010
I have discovered a specialty use for this font ... drawing with pens in a desktop diecutting machine. Unlike normal truetype fonts which only draw the outline, this font "fills itself in", which is quite useful. This font has the extra advantage of also being beautiful which makes it great for drawing on greeting cards and other items commonly made with these machines. Thank you for sharing it.
Comment by Font Fairy 18th may 2011
wow!
I'm impressed! After being away from my favorite playground for so long, I get this nice message of something creative done with something I shared. Thanks for reminding me I need my type-o-fix soon!
I won't blame work, just lack of free time.
like the terminator, I'll be back!
Comment by cayo 19th may 2011
Man, your handwriting is NICE! Way better than my messy scrawl. 10/10

By the way, I have fontstructed my handwriting as well, in the fontstruction Doodley.

THIS is what you should do.

Write out the letters and numbers and punctuation and take a photo of it. Post the photo here. It is your handwriting, write?
