A block, graffiti inspired, font with sprays of imperfection and an urban aesthetic. The letters are structured equal in width and length and are all designed in capital. The graphic elements both inside and outside the typeface enhance a "technologically programmed" (pixelated) feel to the overall font.

Gloria is inspired by 1930's architecture. The theme for this idea is ‘destructive'. I looked at the exterior of buildings and the disappearance and destruction of 1930's architecture and the art deco era and style. The font is a combinination of curves and straight edges which expresses the style of architecture from that time. The detail on the letters will look better at a larger scale so it would be best for display. Anyone wanting to convey a period time or the art deco movement this is the font for you.

In this typeface, I have explored the idea of order and systematic design in an urban surrounding. Following the natural lines from the cement of a regular brick wall I have used the repetitive pattern and method to mark the outline to my type face. This font is primarily created for using in titles and headings rather than in a body of text as it is more impacting as well as visually striking and eye catching.

Inspired by urban architecture, rock texture, fabric twisting and Art Deco, my typeface stands blocked and edgy. Using 45 degree angle lines (7 per each) and 90 degree lines (4 per each)the blocked upper case typeface is confronting, bold and destructive. I have focused on creating a typeface that can be used for titles, magazines and posters. The typeface concentrates on the negative space rather then the positive. This allows each white shape to look unique and cutting.

Urban Destruction is based on a destructed city. This evolved from the idea that fire is dangerous, and the cause of fire is destruction. I took this idea and developed it to destructed buildings that provoke a dangerous environment. This could be used as a title of a graphic novel, which are usually based in dangerous cities.

This is Fracture my first font. My chosen theme for this project was ‘disintegrate’. I went for quite illustrative type with a simple structure – the effect layered over the letter. Whilst flicking through ‘typography sketchbooks’ I found some work I liked and considered to be a similar style to mine – urban influences. The letter works on a square of 10-34 across with a width of about 10 squares on the elements of the letter itself, although it varies on corners and joins which gives it a block or slab style. Because of the styling of the typeface I would say it’s use is in short texts or headings. It works better on small scales as on a larger scale the curves and disintegrating effect begin to pixelate.

This is one of two typefaces that I have created in response to a brief set in my first term studying Graphic Design at UWE Bristol. My chosen theme for the six week project was decay. I decided to creat two fonts, an original and a decayed version. I took inspiration from graffiti and tagging that I photographed around the streets of Bristol. This is a font that I have created as part of a project at UWE. We were given a list of words to choose from that would inspire our font. I chose the word 'decay' and chose to research into urban decay as well as general decaying objects and buildings. Each letter of my font relates closely to a photograph that I have taken as inspiration, I think this way the letters look more like the realistic object that they are meant to represent.
