Let not the death of our elders be the demise of our ways of life. Let not the passage of time be measured in the passing of languages beyond all living memory.

Surfing the net: the Lakota, one of the great Sioux Nations. Thank you, Master.
cool!
very interesting!
This is awesome. Great work! Especially because it helps preserve a written language. Exciting.
Respect!
Thank you @meek, jirinvk, JingYo, SymbioticDesign, and the inimitable geneus1. Heartened by your interest and all your support.
A dear friend shared this orthography ~1 year ago in solidarity with the elders – but also the youngers – of his tribe. Specifically, how language is a living link between generations.
Of course, the highly modular nature of this system stood out to me as imminently fontstructable. A digital version might give new interest and use to the approach and be a vehicle of cultural appreciation.
I learned while researching that this way of writing is not widely used – instead there is a phonetic romanization widely used for written Lakota.
Yet this character set was itself created as an act of decolonization – a gift from Leroy C. Curley to Lakota people both past and future.
FontStruct hosts many conlangs and non-latin orthographies; here’s one devised by and for peoples who we would all do well to remember;
In seeking wisdom, to listen for how to regenerate our society as an extension of (rather than an extractor of) the landbase we rely upon;
And rediscover that traditions of all kinds are themselves dynamic living processes that require our full participation to thrive.
Nothing lives forever. We make meaning of our lives in the time we share together.
Language is one legendary tool we can use to connect. Stay creative, stay inspired, stay safe FontStruct family ?
