This font was inspired by the Japanese post-apocalyptic cyberpunk animation, Akira (1988). The convoluted story is set in a dystopian future, in a large megacity: Neo-Tokyo.

Unfortunately, I could not finish the Katakana characters, but the Latin alphabet was designed to reflect the style of the Japanese letters.

a cool font. designed to look great in huge sizes on huge billboards on huge skyscrapers. But I think spacing should be much smaller.

Very befitting of the movie.
In the late 80s, I watched Akira at a theater screeing when it came to Oakland, CA.
I was so impressed by it, I bought one of the animation frames from the movie.
It really blew my mind of what was cinematically possible with anime.
Still hoping for a live action version of the film.

I love Akira and I love this font because cacht all their flavour. About Akira, the really-really amazing are the quality of the cinematographic planification and handmade drawings of the pages from the original manga (written and drawn by the great and superb japanese comic artist Katsuhiro Otomo between 1982-90). I was flashed when it was published in Spain in 1990. Instant love forever, 10/10.

Too bad you didn't have time for more, very attractive, better than the poster art.  I saw Akira in the theatre way back when :)

There is something very appealing about these bold characters with their little counters, each with their own personality but working so well together as a font.

@Rob Meek: Thank you for the special mention. And thank you for fixing the kerning problem just in time. I didn't realize there was a problem until my whole kerning adjustments failed to show up the next time.
