My font was originally based on the word 'curves',
this lead to looking at the fluid movements of strings through the process of stitching. My aim was to create a type face which explored the freedom of the process you undergo when sewing by hand.

My Final 'Sharp' Fontstruct that I created for my University project in Graphic Design.
I thought for a long time what to do with the font and decided to try make it quite clean but different at the same time. My main focus on this Font was to make sure it was clean enough to read without any difficulties. That i think i've achieved.

Brick is a typeface created in response to a university brief. We were asked to based our work on the word 'repetition' and so began looking at brickwork in architecture. In order to create the letterforms I sculpted each character from rectangular 'bricks' in a subtractive process, wasting as little as possible.

I created this font based on the word ‘loud’. I researched sound waves and visual interpretations of sound which led me into development of an Equalizer styled Font.This is a clone

This is a re-work of my original font "Epistolophobia". In this version, I have created larger spiders that continue my theme of fear and phobias. This is a clone

I created this typeface after looking at old arcade games and this lead me to be influenced by the game ‘snake’. I focused on the movements made by the snake in the game, and created each piece around these movements. I designed the typeface for my ‘Communicating With Words’ project in first year Graphic Design at UWE Bristol.

My project was to create a font around a particular stimuli word - mine being 'dangerous'. My main inspiration came from a quote from my scuba diving instructor as he said "never touch anything in the water that is beautiful as all the beautiful things are the most dangerous". When I think of this quote and apply it to things I could see on a daily basis, I think of a rose, a beautiful flower with sharp thorns. The idea for my font was to create not a beautiful font, but a strong looking font with something beautiful yet harmful wrapped around it.

Uppercase version of my font which is based around the idea of reflection and how things are fragmented through a kaleidoscope. The harsh, angular form of each letter reminded me of metal, mechanics and in turn Transformers. I also feel the final outcome has a slight sinister feel to it - hence the name.

"Ain't no party like a knife fight party."
I used the word 'sharp' as starting point for this fonstruction. I wanted to make something with sharp angles, and the edges are supposed to look a bit like a blade.

The theme is based on Evil, the concept behind it was to develop and create evil side of fear. My final outcome, is based on the eye/s facing in different directions. Each alphabet has an image of an eye. This was to show and express how the public would react to a creation like this, and what will they think when they visually see each alphabet.

(UNFINISHED) This is my first ever "fontstruction". It's based around the theme of decay. I looked at tooth decay and urban decay, and mixed them to create this rotting roots font.

I created this type face on the theme 'Sharp' - I started by looking at sharp shapes and the obvious one was a triangle. This lead me to the Star of David and I looked at Daniel Libeskind's designs for the Jewish Museum in Berlin. I experimented with which letters fit into the religious symbol and it turned out that they all did! I decided after making the line version that it needed more to it so added a 3d effect! So here it is... The Star of Harriet 3D!
Improvements welcomed!

Based on the theme 'decay' I chose to look at how I could incorporate buildings into my font. I looked at derelict buildings during my development and thought the idea was strong enough to go ahead with. I wanted to give the idea of an abandoned city with the buildings decaying over time. I did this by bringing parts of the buildings skeleton through and with the shattered windows.

A typeface influenced by the work of Yee Poon and Ruslan Khasanov. Designed to have a wet appearance with various levels of liquid dripping below its baseline, 'Come on in, the Water's Lovely' features counters interrupted by droplets, rounded crotches and melted serifs.

This typeface has been created based on the theme 'Mobile'. I tried out a wide range of experimentation when it came to producing hand rendered work, as I felt I needed to work out what would best capture the general sense of the word. I initionaly thought I would use the aspect of being free and having my letters being very fluid. I thought road systems along with way-finding signs interested me more and I used the basic shape of the arrows used on the motor way signage in the UK. I experimented with curves and different shaped arrows but I settled on this because others made it too playful.

This is still a work in progress and all comments or suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I'm a first year graphic designer and this is my first time using fontsruct. This is response to a brief of designing a font under the theme 'decorative'. I'm really interested in Art Nouveau and the psychedelic art scene of the 60's and 70's,so it was a combination of this and looking into Moroccan patterns that inspired me. The font is designed to be used on a large scale and in small quantities. This is a clone

This typeface was based on the theme of 'compression'. For this theme I wanted to give the impression of the letters being squashed into a small, confined space. To achieve this I started with an 8x8 grid and designed each letter according to the set size. I found this challenging at first because I soon realised that by using a small grid I had limited myself with what I could produce. However, I feel that by sticking to my grid rule I have been successful in creating a simple but effective typeface.

Fashionably Anarchic Striped Edition.
"Fashionably Anarchic" is a typeface inspired by the 1970s Punk movement- paying notice to the political, economical and social issues of the time and how they affected what we commonly refer to as the “Punk Aesthetic”. Ransom note lettering, stencils, silkscreen printing and the appropriation of current cultural imagery aided the movement to deliver its important message of rebellion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting off with the theme "Dangerous", my focus for this project drifted to the definitions of both “rebellion” and “anarchy”. This naturally led me to the Punk movement and how it’s graphic style has been adopted into contemporary design practice. These graphics were often rough, raw, weathered and distressed- all of which I’ve tried to incorporate into my own type’s design. Ironically, the fact that this “style” is being used for commercial gain goes against the very foundations of Punk itself. This realisation spurred on the font’s name “Fashionably Anarchic”.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This typeface would be best utilised in consideration to posters, flyers and possibly book covers (providing the content matches the attitude of the font). Thank you very much, all comments are welcome!This is a clone of Blimey! Rough
Working with the theme 'fluid', I wanted to look at how rain spontaneously runs down objects. I found it interesting how the droplets accumulated so I incorporated it into the font by making parts of the letter thicker, leaving other parts to thin out.This is a clone
This is my typeface based on the theme of "unstable". I researched into this by looking at the unbalance of some letter forms and how I can make this more obvious. I made this typeface out of post it notes which were able to emphasise the unbalance with the lack of symmetry between the letters. This font is designed to be readable but mainly used in a bold and large display form.This is a clone
Elegane is a response to the theme 'decorative'. It is a very french looking font, as it explores a quirky elegance, inspired by the illustrations of Walt Peregoy. I looked at Parisian culture and lifestyle. Architecture and interior style was very much a key influence as it is typically fanciful, ornate and decorative. The font is heavily influenced by floral design and is more of a display font, especially when used in a larger size as the structure of the circles becomes more apparent and therefore modernises it's appearance.
