This typeface was created from the theme of gregarious. Inspired mainly by the idea that we as sociable creatures live in society amongst people. To create the letter forms I walked around the city of Bristol, mapping my routes, therefore creating my typeface through interacting with the city constricted by the buildings around me. I put my typeface on a small grid to formulate the idea of a route, block by block.

Something "fun". Inspired by the many journeys I've made and by train travels. And by my grandchildren's train toys. The angular design echoes small table tops we sometimes use to put the tracks on ...
UC is normal weight and is used in the sampler (font name). LC has some thicker lines for increased legibility although this font is only meant to illustrate concepts (travel, finding new ways, diversification etc) or for logos, shop signs, invitations and similar. Not simple enough for use in anything long or complex that has to be easily read.
The goals for this typeface was to create a quirky design, inspired by the map of the underground. I ensured that my letters abided by the rules that Harry Beck set while designing the map - horizontal, vertical and 45° lines, and incorporating circles into my design. I wanted this typeface to have a friendly feel and to reflect the theme of the community through the idea of connection.
This typeface is based on the word 'Unstable'. It is based around Syrian Refugees and the instability they experience at home and once they reach Europe. It is meant to convey the idea of identity loss. Each boarder cross takes them further away from home to new places where they are often treated like cattle - herded into unsanitary camps and branded as an outsider. With refugees often having to make an average of 6 boarder crosses before reaching safety each diagonal cut represents a new boarder. However the letters begin to crumble as the feeling of self-importance and identity is often lost once in Europe. This typeface aims to spread awareness of this tremendous struggle in the hope that it will enable people to welcome Refugees into their societies the way you would hope to be if the same catastrophe happened to you.
