This font was created around the theme of systematic. My main source of inspiration was from symbols used on weather maps and glyphs used for the shipping forcast. Using five main symbols, I created my own set of rules in order to place each symbol at the correct place on my fontstruction.
This is a font that I designed in relation to the word ‘unstable’. My font is inspired by the classic block game Jenga where players take in terns to pull a block hopefully not knocking over the tower. With this font, I am trying to communicate that although something might look stable, one subtle movement could cause it to come tumbling down.
This type face was created inspired by the theme ‘rebirth’. It took a lot of hand rendered type and photographical experimentation to create a font that I believe captures people coming together through rebirth whether that’s in a spiritual means or something else. I began by photographing people linking together to create shapes in the form of letter with their bodies. After drawing from the photographs, I decided to take a more abstract approach and applied this to my sans serif font.
This font was inspired by the images seen from the Hong Kong protests and the use of the umbrella as a symblom for there movement. I made the font based of pre exsisting letter forms to show china's forceful additions to Hong Kong law.

TREETOPS FONT
When I decided to go with the theme ‘Elegant’ for this project I knew that my font must be simplistic, I considered what elegance meant to me personally and came up with the following words, modesty, simplicity and nature. I wanted this font to reflect all of these aspects so I created the tall letters to mimic trees in a forest and simplified each letter to keep it clean, modern and modest.
This is a theme developed from "Rebirth", a kind of new extraterrestrial typeface style living on Mars.
I was influenced by graphic and typeface designer Wim Crouwel, with a simple structure and a mixture with another typeface from the game Wolfenstein, avoiding additional strokes.
It also resembles a kind of domino.

This display font was created with the rising sea levels in mind; as David Wallace-Wells says: "Miami and Bangladesh will not survive". It is too late for them. The font is a bold display sans serif with the intention to be used in combination with messages about global warming and rising sea levels. The letters contain structures intended for people which have been submerged underwater, the reality of Atlantis that we will face in the next few years.
Here is my first fontstruction coming to you from a graphic design student at UWE Bristol.
This font is based around the theme 'rebirth' and to me rebirth means growth, open-minded, seeing the world in new ways- an awakening.
So I went down the path of spiritual journeys. Throughout lockdown I have been listening to the one and only, Joe Rogan and his podcasts. Many of which discuss the topic of psychedelics and how they have changed peoples perspectives on life - positively. I then took these topics and found my 'Rebirth'
This font represents; psychedelics, trance and being in the state of stupor...
The industrial revolution gave rise to mass manufacturing; whereby machinery replaced humans, and production snowballed. Textiles were being produced at a rapid speed and in vast quantity, and it was also a pivotal time for print - with the fist linotype machine being invented at around 1883. Mechanised printing meant that newspapers' expansion paralleled the rising population. 'Strength' is a typeface inspired by the widespread industrialisation. The sans serif and square letterforms are a reference to the vast number of red brick factories being erected - the square shape of the font mirroring the literal building blocks.
The font was inspired by runic lettering and was taken from the theme unstable. sticks were used as the main shapes to create the typeface, to give this typeface a weak breakable feeling. I wanted to show a balancing act in the type to display the theme and give it a sense of unease.

This is a cloneThis font was based upon the theme of starvation, deriving from the topic of malnourishment. I looked at waste and used/ empty rubbish, in particular food packaging, that I felt represented the fragility of starved beings. Looking at stretched and warped plastic, such as that of empty crisp packets, gave eerie imagery that looked unnatural and like bare skin stretched across bone. I looked creased and stretched materials to extract each letter and manipulate it through fontstruct.
A second typeface inspired by the theme 'systematic', developed through finding hidden shapes within geometric architecture and using them as building blocks for the letterforms, this time blacked out to create a bolder more imposing style. Sister font to - STACKED

THEME: PROTECT
A display font inspired by one of the UK's first and most influential free-party sound systems- Spiral Tribe. They helped create a culture of freedom and expression through art and music which was heavily (and still continues to be) suppressed by the Police. They used tribal patterns frequently in their artwork, which is the reasoning behind the spiral shapes within the letters.
The weights are varied throughout the letters to make it more playful and psycholdelic, as the rave culture is against agression and force used frequently against them by the police. New age travellers embrace harmony- which is why the letters are sized so that they work together in words to create a wider pattern.
This font was inspired by the graffiti and events posters in Bristol. I came across one bit of street art in particular during my research that became my main bit of inspiration. The letters looked very psychedelic based which I loved and therefore made the outcome of my font have a hint of psychedelia. It is named "Spike" as you can see a spike-like aspect feature in each of the letters. This is what gives it its psychedelic flair.
My font Slash, is based off of the theme "protect". I chose to base my type on different swords including fantasy based designs. The tip and edges of the letters are based on different sort of tips on swords. This gives my font a sharp and dangerous feel which links to swords.
This typeface was created on the main theme of 'Protection' that i later explored in the idea of fences and how they can protect us from the outside world. I wanted my letters to connect with one another creating the illusion of a fence and potraying unity.
I designed my font around the theme ‘Elegant’ studying the Crown Jewels that are owned by the British Royal Family. I focused on the structure within each jewel and particularly was interested in how the light catches on certain shards within the stones. My initial idea was to shade each of the sections using a different colour, however this proved difficult with the ‘Fontstruct’ software. Eventually instead of shading with different colours I shaded uses the small dots to create a stipple effect which I believe to still be just as effective.
"SEAWEED' is a decorative font inspired through my research into the protection of the oceans. Through this research I was intrigued by the way that a simple thing like planting seaweed could possibly hold the key to reversing ocean acidification.
A font inspired by a combination of old gothic and block type, designed for bigger bodies of text and mastheads, using this font for smaller paragraphs would result in less legibility. I aimed to combine the straight and structured characteristics of slab serif block fonts and the artistic elements of gothic fonts. As a result i have created Ribbon Edge, a clear typeface with stylized ends.
This is a cloneCurrently studying graphic design at UWE Bristol this is my first FonstStruct attempt, creating a typeface based on the theme ‘Rebirth’. After mind mapping all the ideas that sprang to mind when hearing this theme, the idea of our spiritual centre and specifically the seed of life, sacred geometry and recurring patterns in our universe stood out to me as subjects I wanted to explore.
After overlaying various sacred geometry over each other, to find similarities and differenced, specifically focusing on trying to unite the masculine and feminine attributes of the shapes, I started to draw and create my own recurring patterns.
Through research into existing religious script and spiritual fonts I found inspiration from the harsh angles uniting with soft curves. I started to create my own font building blocks and by creating my own bricks on FontStruct to create both my letters and recurring pattern which I placed within my letters to symbolise the sacred geometry and roots at the centre of all our lives.
Font based on given theme of Rebirth- Playing with idea of reconstruction of objects into new purpose. Letters combinations of objects were randomly generted to play into the rough, hand crafted aesthetic.
My intention with this font was to link it to "Rebirth", so I thought about computer viruses. I looked into glitches and how they distort and warp the computer to such an extent that you'd have to reboot your computer. In other words, the Rebirth of your computer.
