BLAYDES - A modern geometric Blackletter style
============================================
Playing around with some more experimental geometric forms for a Blackletter-ish font. It doesn't really involve or honors any actual calligraphic traditions. The font is actually just a simple geometric sans that was modified to sort of faking the looks and style of a Blackletter.
I tried replicating various elements that are traditionally seen in a Blackletter, such as: angular-styled segments such as strokes, transitions, tapered endings or serifs with a different approach. I used a set of circular shapes and variations to these in order to achieve a similar effect.
The end result sits somewhere between this obesed airport Grotesk, a contemporary Blackletter and the work of a bladesmith.
It has some very sharp and pointy tips, and for some reason this often very 'sword-like' forms.
My first font made in FontStruct. A more sharp and trippy option for the original cloned ztripping font (credits to "elmoyenique"). Good for poster creation, lettering and general typographic experimentation. Modern and Old Fashioned at the same time. Hope yall enjoy!
This is a clone of ztripping eYe/FSOn Reddit a discussion came up about the "Universal S", made up of straight lines, apparently there's been some form of it around the world for over 50 years, nobody truly knows where it came from.
Someone said they tried making other letters... I figured it'd be possible to do a full alphabet. And I've done it here in Fontstruct. Originally it was pixels only so it was jagged. I've now used the angled blocks to smooth it out.
There are a couple of cheats in play, e.g. extra wide M and W, and Q stepping outside the main lines. Was tricky trying to differentiate U and V so there are a couple of versions. Ultimately it's up to you, the user, to put these together as you want! Minimal punctuation as it's for headings and logos.
Font made for the logo of a particular project/video game of mine.
Some kerning pairs are imperfect... I can only bring them 10 bricks closer together, so a bit of space remains...
