For this Fontstruct project, I decided to look at the word malnourished. Looking at all aspects that surround the meaning of the word , the lack of proper nutrition caused by not having enough to eat or not consuming the right things for whatever reasons. I decided to look at the fashion industry, looking into what people put themselves through to become the “perfect” size and that the expectation for this image is growing. My font represents this by showing the main spotlight on the front letter which is tall and skinny followed by the reality displayed in the shadow which is a bigger more “healthy” letter , showing the two extremes in a whole typeface.
Initially made for NW & SW European members' languages this typeface has grown over time to include glyphs for most European languages. My friend Ray will be happy to see Welsh and my friend Johneen can write in Maori :)
Thanks to TCWhite I've found the 2E2E point to place my favourite punctuation/symbol correctly.
I've sent this to be rewiewed for Google Fonts. Having done so I'm stuck, I don't know how to proceed there: how can I get people to look at it, comment?!
This is a clone of MasterClass 1I have created this typeface inspired by my theme ‘sustainability’ and the protection of the environment, particularly focusing within the fashion industry. This project has made me think more in depth about the affects fast fashion has to the environment and how this can be resolved. I started experimenting this theme by sketching distorted, organic typefaces to create a freeform look to represent the quality of fast fashion. This led me to looking at thread and embroidery and how freeform and swift it is unravelled, I used thread to create letters and see how they form naturally when placing the thread down. I took photos of the outcomes and used them to inspire my fontstruct letters. This gave me a sense of the shapes and lines that are created naturally and pushed me a step further within my progression.
